Dessert & Baked Goods » Bananas Foster Spring Rolls
When we think of Bananas Foster, we imagine flames shooting from the dessert plate. Not so with this updated version. Spring roll wrappers cradle bananas for a quick deep fry. Then a creamy rum and caramel sauce adds the perfect finishing touch. No flames needed.
Makes 1 Serving
Ingredients
- 1 banana, quartered
- 4 medium-size spring roll wrappers
- oil for deep frying
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ cup caramel sauce (or sundae sauce)
- 1 tbsp rum (optional)
How-to
Prepare & Fry Banana
- Heat oil to 365º in deep fryer or skillet
- Slice banana into quarters and wrap each quarter in a spring roll wrapper, folding edges of the wrapper in, rolling it up, and placing flap side on the bottom
- Place wrapped bananas, flap side down, into heated oil and fry for about 1 minute, until crispy
- Remove from heat and place in a paper bag containing granulated sugar and give the bag a shake to coat fried bananas with sugar
Make Caramel Sauce
- Heat ½ cup of caramel sauce until bubbling
- Add rum and heat just to warm through (mixture will bubble up and get foamy). Mixture will be extremely hot
Assemble
- Plate the bananas and either serve the caramel sauce on the side or drizze on top. Enjoy!
