Ingredients
Option 1: Royal Icing (Using Meringue Powder)
- 4 cups confectioners (powdered) sugar
- ¼ tsp cream of tartar
- 3 tbsp meringue powder
- ½ - ¾ cup warm water
Option 2: Royal Icing (Using Egg Whites)
- 2 large egg whites
- 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 3 cups confectioners (powdered) sugar, sifted
How-to
Royal Icing (Using Meringue Powder)
- In the bowl of an electric mixer beat confectioners sugar and meringue powder until combined
- Add water and beat on medium to high until stiff peaks form (5-7 minutes)
Royal Icing (Using Egg Whites)
- In the bowl of an electric mixer beat egg whites with the lemon juice
- Add sifted confectioners sugar
- Beat on low speed until combined and smooth
Note: Use icing right away or transfer to an air-tight container. Keep covered with plastic wrap when not in use. Royal icing hardens when exposed to air. Keep covered with plastic wrap when not in use.
