Grilling the Perfect Burger

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef, 80/20 blend (20% fat) recommended
  • 1 small red onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • kosher salt to taste
  • fresh ground pepper to taste
  • buns and condiments of choice

How-to

  1. Clean your grill to prevent food from sticking
  2. Light grill.  You’ll know it’s hot enough when you are only able to hold your hand over the coals for 5-10 seconds
  3. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, onions and garlic
  4. Make four balls and knead each ball for 30 seconds to better incorporate the ingredients then form into 4 patties
  5. Season each patty liberally with salt and pepper
  6. Place patties on the grill and cook  2-3 minutes each side
  7. Flip and repeat, and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes more. At this point your burger will be rare but you can cook it further if you prefer. Use thermometer to test internal temperatures to gauge the level of doneness*
  8. Grill buns for 30 seconds if desired, and serve with your favorite condiments!
