French Toast

Serves 2


  • 4 thick slices good quality bread (brioche or challah recommended)
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ - ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp butter

Suggested Toppings

  • maple syrup, blueberries or favorite fruits, powdered sugar, jams or jellies, pecans or walnuts


  1. Add the eggs to a large bowl and break up the yolks with a fork or whisk
  2. Add milk, vanilla and cinnamon. Mix with a fork or whisk just to bring ingredients together
  3. Melt butter in a heavy-bottom pan. When the butter starts to bubble, dip one slice of bread at a time into the egg mixture, letting the extra custard run off. Place no more than 2 slices of bread in the pan at a time. Cook 3-4 minutes per side until bread starts to brown
  4. Serve warm with maple syrup, blueberries or your favorite toppings
